Taking Care Of Your Paaytaan
·KEEP YOUR PAAYTAAN TIMELESS·
Kolhapuri Chappals are handcrafted from natural leather and age beautifully with mindful care. A few simple steps will help preserve their comfort, shape, and character over time.
Simple Care Tips for Lasting Beauty
1. Cleaning & Storage
Dust and moisture can settle into natural leather over time, leading to stiffness, marks, or loss of shape. Regular cleaning and proper storage help maintain the chappals’ appearance and durability.
Steps:
-
Gently remove dust using a soft brush or dry cloth.
-
If needed, wipe lightly with a damp cloth and allow to air-dry in shade.
-
Wrap in newspaper or store in a cotton cloth bag.
-
Keep in a cool, dry place with good air circulation.
2. Rainy Season Care
Natural leather absorbs moisture easily. Excess water can cause stiffness, colour changes, or damage if not handled correctly.
Steps:
-
Avoid wearing in heavy rain or water-logged areas.
-
If wet, wipe gently and let them air-dry naturally in shade.
-
Apply a light coat of oil once fully dry.
3. Removing Fungus
Fungus can develop in humid conditions, especially during monsoon or improper storage. Early care prevents permanent damage to the leather.
Steps:
-
Gently scrub affected areas using a soft brush.
-
Wipe clean and allow to dry completely.
-
Apply a light layer of oil to restore the leather.
4. Oiling
Leather can dry out over time. Light oiling helps retain softness, flexibility, and the natural finish of the chappals.
Steps:
-
Use a soft cloth and a small amount of oil.
-
Apply in a thin, even layer over the leather.
-
Let the chappals absorb the oil fully before wearing.
