Paaytaan is a purpose-driven initiative developed to preserve, represent, and promote the authentic legacy of Kolhapuri chappals. Proudly based in Kolhapur, Paaytaan exists to bring this centuries-old craft to a wider audience while staying true to its original form, process, and values.

For centuries, Kolhapuri chappals have been handcrafted in Kolhapur using traditional leatherworking techniques refined through generations. The methods remained honest, the workmanship remained strong, and the craft continued quietly in the hands of skilled artisans.

Over time, however, the market around this craft changed. While the quality and process stayed the same, awareness reduced, reach remained limited, and the value of the work often failed to reflect the effort behind it. The craft survived—but its true richness was no longer clearly seen.

That is where Paaytaan began.

We saw a need to build a dedicated platform that represents Kolhapuri chappals with clarity, authenticity, and respect. A platform that allows this heritage to reach beyond regional boundaries without altering its identity. By building a strong online presence, Paaytaan aims to increase awareness, restore confidence in the craft, and help it find the right audience—people who value originality, workmanship, and meaning.
